Google releases monthly security patches for Android smartphones to protect them from cyberattacks. The urgency of these updates is evident in the number of newly discovered vulnerabilities within the Android system. Devices from Samsung, Xiaomi, and Google alone have been found to contain 44 security flaws.
Among these vulnerabilities, ten are classified as critical, with two already being actively exploited by hackers. One of them, Zero-Day vulnerability CVE-2024-43093, is a privilege escalation flaw in the Android Framework component. This issue allows cybercriminals to gain unauthorized access to directories such as “Android/data,” “Android/obb,” and “Android/sandbox”, potentially exposing sensitive user data.
Another critical flaw, Zero-Day vulnerability CVE-2024-50302, is located in the Linux Kernel, specifically affecting Human Interface Device (HID) functionality. Exploiting this vulnerability with specially crafted HID reports can lead to kernel memory loss, compromising the stability and security of the system. Google has deliberately withheld technical details on how these vulnerabilities are being exploited to prevent malicious actors from taking further advantage of them.

The only way to protect your Android smartphone from these threats is by installing the latest security patch for March. The update has been rolled out in two security levels. The 2025-02-01 patch addresses 30 vulnerabilities across the Android Framework, platform, and system.
For those using Android 12 through Android 15, applying the 2025-03-01 security update is essential. This update further strengthens security measures and ensures that all discovered vulnerabilities are patched.
